Hello daughters of grace!!!
Today’s post will be a little different than my normal posts. I usually talk about recipes and cooking and all that good stuff but this week was a little different for me and if I can, take just a moment to be real with you. I want to talk with you about something I’m experiencing here in Europe and that is loneliness! I know it sounds crazy but amidst travelling with the team and cooking all this food I do get lonely. I miss my family, friends, church and especially my son. Loneliness can be very hard but it happens to all of us. We can be in a room filled with people and still feel very much alone. We can be in our own homes with our families and still feel lonely. You know what I mean, right?
During those times we know we should cry out to God and turn to Him. He promises to comfort us and never leave us. Sister, that can be easier said than done. The enemy likes to use our times of loneliness to discourage us. He doesn’t want us turning to the Lord and crying out to Him during those times. He wants us moping and moody and stressed. For a few days I was emotionally and spiritually down in the dumps. Then I decided I had enough! I turned on some music, got into my Bible and expected God to move. Guess what? He did!! The song, God’s Great Dance Floor, by Chris Tomlin began playing and I immediately got up and began to dance. “I Am Alive, I Come Alive, I Feel Alive on God’s Great Dance Floor”!! How can you not move when you hear that song? Music is so therapeutic and powerful. Brooke posted a lovely video of her daughter taking music therapy lessons on facebook recently and it just brought a smile to my face. Music is great for lifting our souls.
I then went to the place where my strength comes from, the Word of God. I looked up scriptures on loneliness and I’d like to encourage you with one that really touched my heart.
It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will [march] with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; [let there be no cowardice or flinching, but] fear not, neither become broken [in spirit—depressed, dismayed, and unnerved with alarm]. ~ Deut 31:8 Amp
This scripture truly blessed me!! I know it may not seem to directly address loneliness but it really does! God doesn’t want us focusing on us. He wants us focusing on Him and His power! In the midst of my stress and loneliness the Lord goes before me. He will march with me!! He will not fail or forsake me! I can’t fear or be broken in spirit, depressed, dismayed or unnerved with alarm. Wow! He puts our focus away from us and back on Him being with us, IN OUR LONELINESS!! Be encouraged my sister. During those lonely times in life put your focus back on the Lord. As David encouraged himself in the Lord you must as well. He’s here to encourage you! Have an amazingly blessed week!
Robin
