Three Steps to Unlocking His Treasure

Happy Thursday Girls! Perhaps one of your goals for 2014 is to spend more time in your Bible. Whether your faith is new or renewed, I hope these three steps are a helpful starting point in growing your relationship with God:

1. Pick a place and time to get alone with God - This should be a quiet place where you can truly read God's word and focus on the things He has planned for you. God's word is medicine for your weary soul. It has the power to change your life because there is life in the Word. "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life" (1 John 1:1 KJV). God's word is the only way to know His will for your life - "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalms 119:105 KJV).

2. Pray - Ask God to speak to you and talk with Him about things you might need to confess. Ask Him to reveal what it is He wants you to read and understand.

3. Let the Holy Spirit be your teacher - "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you,and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him" (1 John 2:27 KJV). Prepare yourself for an amazing new life.

My words of encouragement for you today are from the book of Proverbs - "If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:4-5 KJV). Proverbs chapter 2 is an amazing way to begin seeing how God wants us to view His scriptures. It has some precious promises that we can claim for our lives. My prayer is that you will hold God to His promises and do your part by seeking after God's Word as silver, seeing it as the treasure that it is. Then let God do the rest!
