I laid in my bed frustrated to the point of tears from the events that had transpired from the week. I had a full schedule from Sunday to Sunday which consisted of work, ministry, writing, speaking, and acting engagements. Not to mention my full time job of being a mother. It was about 5pm this past Saturday when I found myself in need of some much needed alone time but as usual I was comforted by the constant screaming of my name, "mommy". It never fails. It is like my children have some kind of radar that goes off whenever I am having a mommy meltdown moment. They immediately cling to my arms and legs begging to be held, fed, or played with. The supermom in me just wanted to jump up and become the tickle monster, chasing them all around the house. I promise you that I do my best to tend to their every need but some times it just gets hard and overwhelming. So instead I was just Marlia, tired and running on empty, in need of some spiritual food.
I roll over in my bed, grab the remote, and turn on the kid's favorite cartoon. The boys quickly let go of their infatuation with me and turn their heads towards the television. The show had a 24 minute run time with no commercials. This was my opportunity and I had to take full advantage of it. I popped my headphones into my ears and began to play "Oceans" by Hillsong United. The song always puts me at ease as it prepares me for a full blown worship session. I begin to first sing the lyrics which led me to meditating on the words.
I then opened up my Bible to Galatians 5:25 "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." (NIV)
Lastly, a calming peaceful, yet joyful spirit overtook me as I sang out loud the last few lines of the song.
"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior"
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior"
Wow! That was powerful. What a beautiful place to be where no matter what is going on in your world, you are still able to rest in the Presence of our Lord and Savior. Fully trusting that He has already gone before you and there is nothing that happens in your life that catches Him off guard or surprises Him. He desires for us to walk by faith and not by sight, solely depending on Him. His spirit empowers us to live beyond our natural ability and strength because His power is limitless. All we have to do is be in tune with the Holy Spirit.
BE BLESSED WOMEN OF GOD AND ALLOW HIS SPIRIT TO LEAD YOU TODAY!
