I'm in the Boat
Happy Friday Moms
Recently, my husband and I have started to embark on a new spiritual journey through the word of God. We have embraced a new way of studying, that my brother shared with us, that has taken the pressure off of us of quantity over quality. Simply stated;
"A CHAPTER A DAY, KEEPS THE DEVIL AWAY"
Now let me say that this in no way means that we haven't faced challenges since we started. As a matter of fact, I think the challenges have increased in size and intensity but I have noticed that our partnership has also increased as well. I will share with you the details of this bible study in a later blog post, but that is not the assignment God has given me to share with you today.
Today I want to talk to you about the Flood. A few days ago we read through Genesis 7 and WOW did God have a blessing for me hidden in this chapter. Many of us know the story of Noah and due to the recent movie, (which I have yet to view) it seems to be a hot topic. Isn't it just like God to bring forth a new revelation from this STORY in this SEASON. I just LOVE how God works! Lets begin with Genesis.
Genesis 7:19-20 states:
(18) As the waters rose higher and higher above, the boat floated safely on the surface (19) Finally, the water covered even the highest mountain on the earth (20) rising more than 22 feet above the highest peak.
As a child in Sunday school I don't think I understood the magnitude of the flood. It wasn't until that day while sitting at my dining room table, that I realized how much God destroyed during that flood. Not only did it rain but the bible tells us "...all the underground waters erupted from the earth..." (Genesis 7:11) . Waters that reached the altitude close to that of a plane and beyond that of the highest mountain peak. Yet among all the destruction, heavy rains and deep waters; what would seem like a situation that no one and nothing should have survived, floated a boat. One Single Boat. Yes large, but in no way larger than the destruction that surrounded it, BUT God carried this boat above the mountains and past all the destruction that lay beneath it. God Carried the Boat!
Over the last few months I have been faced with many challenges that have tested me as a mother and as a Christian. I have been discouraged, then encouraged. I have felt defeated then victorious but I never felt like I was in THE BOAT until a few days ago. Now as I look back at all that God has carried me through, I realize that I was always in the boat. He saw ME and preserved ME in the midst of destruction all around me. He ALWAYS carried me above the highest mountain, I was never destroyed when the floods hit and most of all he provided me with everything I needed to make it through the storm and still worship him (Genesis 7:2).
So what's the significance of the boat? I'd say its position. God showed me that if I would only see myself IN THE BOAT, I would see that he has always placed me above the flood. If I would stop viewing myself and my situation from a flood perspective, then I would realize that I am in fact in the Boat.
Moms I want to encourage you to read through Genesis 7 and envision the destruction of the world and the victories in the boat. No matter what is going on around you, no matter what God is carrying you through, please remember YOU ARE IN THE BOAT!

Very encouraging, Rachel. Sometimes I find myself asking God for a life preserver when the waters get deep. But, I'm really already in the boat. Thank you!
