If there is one thing I love about being a mother, it's how my children can make me laugh or make me hold in a laugh, time and time again. I could go down the list of the things my children have done that left me gasping for air because of pure laughter. If you're anything like me, you love sharing these stories with others.
Just recently I was celebrating my 3 year anniversary. My wonderful husband woke up early to cook me breakfast. What a sweet gesture considering how much I love his home fries. None the less, this morning was particularly special since it was our anniversary. All the children had gone off to school except our youngest little one Gabby. After about 20 minutes my sweet husband brought me up a beautiful plate of breakfast food with yellow rose petals surrounding the plate. It was beautiful!!!!
As I sat on our bed and ate I was interrupted by the little voice of my 2 year old saying "Here Mommy" as she handed me some more yellow rose petal. Not thinking much of it, I continued to eat my delicious breakfast. Once again she came back in the room with a few more petals. This time I began to wonder where she was getting the rose petals from but I didn't give it to much thought and kept eating my breakfast.
About 5 minutes later my husband came upstairs and asked,
"Did you walk down the steps already?"
My response was clearly "NO", I had been in the bed eating the entire time.
"Oh Wow" he said, "I had a trail of rose petals leading down the steps but gabby must have picked them all up".
That's how she was getting the rose petals!!!!
We both looked at each other and began to laugh. Only a 2 year old can get in the middle of a romantic moment like that...I guess she knows mommy likes a clean house. Needless to say, I texted everyone I knew to share this funny story.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation similar to this? Or what about holding your breath because you noticed something, and you knew that if your child saw what you saw, you'd soon be apologizing for their brutal yet "child-like" honesty. Elevator rides with my children always left me holding my breath.
