Happy Friday My Beautiful Sisters in Christ
Today's blog is on a topic that is dear to my heart because it is the essence of who I am. It is an assignment that God has given me and through the good and bad, I accept the call. Being a Blended family.
There are so many topics to touch on when it comes to being a blended family and I pray that as the weeks and months progress, God will use this blog to encourage you in this area.
I have often wondered how I was chosen for this parenting assignment. I'd have conversations with God that kind of sounded like,
"Lord, I'm pretty sure that my plans consisted of traveling the world, trying every new food I could imagine and never returning to my home town again. Now I understand that is not EXACTLY how things worked out because you had better plans for me. GREAT! BUT can I ask you one question? How did you end up selecting me to be the mother of SIX children? I am not cut out for this."
His answer was pretty much along the lines of:
"Daughter, I created you. I knew you before you even knew you existed. I know more about you than you know about yourself. So rest assure that you are absolutely right, your NOT cut out for this at all! BUT I AM THAT I AM and I have equipped you, So be still and trust me".
How comforting it is to know that God gave me a job he KNEW I wasn't cut out for so that HE could get the glory out of my life as I learned the art of yielding to him. What a PRIVILEGE.
I sometimes wonder how Joseph felt when he was assigned the HUGE responsibility of Step Father to JESUS! And knowing that Christ biological father was the Creator of the Universe!!!
I thank God I DON'T have that type of pressure but what a PRIVILEGE it was for Joseph to be assigned as a parent to Christ while he was on this earth. Such is the case for our roles in the lives of our children and step children.
As time has passed, I have become increasingly grateful for the Privilege to Parent. I have been blessed with Gifts from God in the form of children and I am thankful that God allows me to be a part of each one of my children's lives. I realize that I have been Chosen, Assigned, and Equipped for this task and so have you, and WE are PRIVILEGED.
In what ways do you feel God has Equipped you to Parent?
Have a WONDERFUL Weekend!!
