Sunday School Songs - Getting Back To The Basics Part 1 of 2

Good morning ladies!

Some of the best memories I have are singing in Sunday School and church.  When I was in elementary school, my mom took us to church every Sunday.  I couldn't wait to go to Sunday School and sing "Jesus Loves Me" or "Jesus Loves The Little Children."  It was there that I learned "The Books of the Old Testament Song" and "The Books of the New Testament Song."  I consider these songs to be "the basics." If you learn these songs (whether in the younger decades or older decades of life), you can navigate your Bible so much faster to find those favorite scripture verses that you haven't quite committed to memory yet.  Songs, in general, are a great way to memorize scripture!

As I explained in my introductory blog post, I love music.  I love listening to music and I love sharing it with others. For the last few years, I have had the privilege of being the Sunday School worship leader at our church (a.k.a., the crazy, happy lady who gets up there and tries to get everyone to sing for fifteen minutes each Sunday).   I wanted to teach the children some of the basics. Therefore, we started working on "The Books of the Old Testament Song" (see video below) and "The Books of The New Testament Song" (see video in Getting Back to the Basics Part 2).

If you work with youth at your church and the youth have not had an opportunity to learn these songs, I encourage you to teach them these basics.  They are something they will remember for many, many years.

Also, in Getting Back to the Basics Part 2, check out the helpful hints paragraph to learn some things you can do to help the children learn the books of the Bible faster.

Blessings to all!

(I can hear you singing out there) :)
