The In Between

"As women I think we kind of learned how to do the valley, and we've learned how to do the mountain top. But its the in between place that's so hard sometimes"-
Sandi Patty

As I sat with my father during his weekly Thursday visit, we began to do one of our favorite past times; listen to music. In the process we stumbled on a song called, "In the In Between" by Sandi Patty. As I listened to this song a feeling of peace came over me. Not just a calming peace that comes with hearing a song that has beautiful vocals with soothing piano accompaniment. This was a different kind of peace. This was a Peace that comes about when you feel God has used the beauty of music to speak directly to you. A clear message just for you. That's exactly how I felt about this song.

Has this every happened to anyone? You hear a  song that touches a place in your heart that only the Lord knew existed. A place of unspoken concern, pain, discontentment or uncertainty.  Well, this was that kind of song. A song that spoke to me and once the song was over I felt encouraged because I knew that God has been there for me in every season of my life, and this season is no different. He is here even in my In Between.

There is so much more that I could say about this song but I didn't want to take away from the beauty of the song. So instead I decided to share the words and the video and allow you to experience Peace just as I did.

Be Blessed and Enjoy

In The In-Between

I have seen some glorious days
Where I flew so much higher
Much higher than I ever thought I would,
And soaring through the air I would declare,
“Well, isn’t God good?
Isn’t He good?”

And He was and He is
And He always will be,
But in the in-between
It’s hard for me to see.

In the in-between
Where everyday life happens,
And the fields of green
Belong to someone else.
In the in-between
Of what will be and what has been,
Jesus is a faithful friend
In the in-between.

I have been unsure of myself
But even in the dark,
I’m pretty sure that all is well,
And then I see,
There in the mirror looking back at me,
A work that is not everything that it will be.

Cause He was and He is
And He always will be
Close beside and holding on to me.

Grace and mercy know no season
And there is no good reason why,
The best of days might not be the days ahead
And in the in-between
Where you have some time to dream,
Your faith and strength can be restored
By the gracious Lord…

Of the in-between
Where everyday life happens,
And the fields of green belong to someone else.
In the in-between
Of what will be and what has been,
Jesus is a faithful friend
In the in-between.
