Intentional Parenting

Happy Friday!!

Recently I heard a song played on 95.5 The Fish Fresh Catch by King and Country. The song was titled "Fix My Eyes". Some of you may have already heard this song before but it was my first time and it couldn't have come at a better time.

In the song, the psalmist talks about what he would do differently if he could go back in time and change the past.. He came up with some common concepts that encompass most of the things that he would change which were:

I'd love like I'm not scared
Give when it's not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on you

If I could go back in time and keep the wisdom I've gain over the years, I would do so many things differently. I am sure that applies to most of us. So how do we take what we know and give it power? Simple, We share it! We share it with our children so that they can gain wisdom from our experiences.

This song has opened my eyes to so many things regarding parenting. It helped to create in me a more purposeful parenting style. More than anything, it created a framework for me to parent intentionallyIt reminded me that everything I do in my parenting should point back to what I am trying to instill in my children. CHRIST. If I can teach them how to be like Christ by instilling in them the character of Christ, then they wont be able to blend in, even when they try.

Moms, have you sat down and decided what you want your children to walk away with when they leave your nest? If not, its time to start parenting intentionally. Create a framework (I think this song is a good starting point) then build on it. Just remember the most important item you should have listed is to teach your child how to Fixing their Eyes on God. Moms I encourage you to stay intentional in training your children and preparing them for the world they will one day enter as an adult.

Have a blessed Friday
