Sending two kids to college, both playing sports and two kids to middle school is a very challenging and stressful time for me. As their mom I like to keep them "under my wing", making sure they are fed well, have clean clothes, protect them from harms way, saying prayers with them, and tucking them into bed safe at night.
Our oldest son plays college golf. Him and I have many conversations where he has been frustrated because he has worked so hard at his game of golf, sacrificing his time, to be the best he can be, and then it doesn't turn out the way he wants it to or thinks it should. I am there to remind him that as hard as it is, it's in God's hands and His time. I tell him he has done all he can and now he has to "Let Go and Let God" (LGLG).
This time of year I am reminded often that I need to LGLG. There is a voice in my head saying, "Sonia, you have done all you can right now. You have done your very best with the children I have shared with you. And now it's time to let go and let Me. Trust Me". So I wear a ring on my thumb every day that is written in Hebrew and it reminds me to trust Him. It comes from one of my favorite verses.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
As I work on this daily, I make sure I have done all I can. Whether that means I get up earlier to make our kids a homemade breakfast, pack their lunches, make sure their clothes are clean and ready, kiss them, tell them I love them and send them on their way, or sending them off to college with the clean clothes they need, as much food as I can send, encouraging verses, their supplies, etc. And it may not always turn out the way I think it should, but I pray for all of them, let go and let God, and trust in Him!
Below is a quick little workout that can help you relieve stress.
20 Speed Skaters Stand with one leg stretched out behind and across the other leg. Push off your front leg jumping to the other side and land, switching your legs and immediately jumping back. Use your arms in a swinging motion as if you were skating. You do not have to jump, you can step wide also.
1 Minute Rest & Repeat As Many Times As You Can!
