Are You An Angel?

Blessings to you ladies!

As I sit here thinking about what to write, I am thinking about how thankful I am that God provides guardian angels for His children.  We may or may not be able to see the angels He sends to protect us, to lift us up and give us encouragement every day.  Sometimes our angels are our family, friends, co-workers, or even strangers.

I know throughout my life there have been numerous times where a guardian angel has helped me or saved me from some danger.  I believe God brings certain people into our lives at different times to be those guardian angels who watch over us.  I also believe that God calls us to be someone else's guardian angel.  This thought brings to my mind a song co-written and sung by Francesca Battistelli called, "Angel By Your Side."  The song is about being there for others when they are going through a difficult time.  It’s not hard to be an angel to someone else.  It could be standing by a family member's or friend’s side as a physician gives them bad news.  It could be holding your child tightly when he or she has a bad dream and wakes up crying.  It could be leaving your husband a note of encouragement in his lunchbox to let him know you are thinking of him and you love him.

Being an angel to someone else doesn’t mean you can fix everything that is going wrong in their life because that is not possible.  You may not be able to fix anything that is going wrong in someone else’s life.  However, you can be there to hold them, to love them and to remind them that God loves them, too.

Last week, one of my sisters lost one of her earthly guardian angels—her husband of thirty-five years.  They have been through almost every trial you can imagine.  But, he was always there for her.  If there was only one song I could play for her at this time, it would be Francesca Battistelli’s song, “Angel By Your Side.”

I want to challenge you to be someone's angel today and every day.  There are so many people around us who are hurting and need prayers.  They need someone to care.  Even if we cannot physically or financially do a lot for them, we can still listen.  We can be their prayer warrior and pray with them and for them.
