To Mom With Love

Hello ladies!

I wanted to share with all the moms out there a special poem my daughter wrote for me for Mother's Day when she was in elementary school.  I "re-discovered" this poem just the other day while going through bins and files in the house in order to gather items to put together a scrapbook for her.  (My daughter is getting married in July and I want to make a scrapbook to have at her wedding shower next month to show others a little bit more about who she is and what she has accomplished in the first 25 years of her life.)    I didn't realize that I would "re-discover" my daughter in this process, as well.  I'm not sure if I fully realized what a special daughter God gave me until I read and re-read cards and poems she wrote to me and for me. I know I read them when she first brought them home, but now that she is ready to become a wife and a step-mom herself to a beautiful young girl, I guess it is just sinking in that much more how much God has given to me (not only in respect to my daughter, but my boys, too).

Here is the poem:

I LOVE YOU, MOM

I love you, Mom, indeed I do;
I love you more each day.
My love is shown by what I do,
When I'm at work and play.

I love the way you comb your hair,
Your manners bright and gay.
I love the way you hear my prayer
As we talk to God each day.

I love the way you smile at me,
Your eyes with love all glowing.
It fills my heart with childish glee
To where e'r you're going.

Love your daughter,
Heather

In her blog post yesterday, Chef Robin posted some wonderful ideas on what you can do when your child or children leave the nest.  After you have had an opportunity to try some of those ideas, take at least one day a year and spend some time with those precious memories of your children.    Take time to really see who they are and re-discover them.  You may find that you missed some things the first time because life happens so quickly.

Today, my youngest son turns 11.  We brought him home on Mother's Day in 2003 which was, also, May 11th.

Praying that all moms have a special, blessed Mother's Day!

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 ESV

Note - The artwork above is on the cover of the poem my daughter wrote for me.  Above the artwork, she wrote, "To Mom With Love."
